If it is a new one means that there is an old one however both are the Lemosho route we call it nature trail because of some reason. Both the Lemosho trail begins the western side of the mountain from day one of the trek and the first campsite set up under forest canopy the camp called Big tree/forest campsite or” Mti Mkubwa” Swahili means. This is very beautiful if you want to enjoy a daily walk while on the Kilimanjaro trek can’t feel bored as the second day start a hike along the forest before approaching treeless to Shira 1 campsite also this side of the mountain has great weather and beautiful sceneries even though weather is unpredictable, another gratification is to have a night at Shira 1 campsite is the initial point of Shira plateau. The walk over plateau following next day to Moir camp where new Lemosho route start from this point then facing Northern side of Mountain a couple of day before summit from northeast side and then descent to southern side “Mweka trail”

The annual rainfall is this region is between 2000 mm and 3000 mm - by comparison Edinburgh, Scotland averages 670 mm; and Miami, Florida averages 1,570 mm. Among the different species of flora and fauna commonly seen are Black and White Colobus monkeys; Blue Monkeys; many birds and insects; forest floor ants, and different species of forest birdsong within the canopy. The trail gently and smoothly through the forest, making for a relaxing and enjoyable day. Made especially so by the previous days on Mount Meru. Your guide will take you to view the dendrosenecio Kilimanjari plant which grows only here high on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. An amazing opportunity for nature lovers. Moir camp (4,160 m) offers a quieter camp than the alternative Shira 2 camp. Moir camp is reached by ascending steeply from the Shira plateau. Moir camp is wild and rugged and beautiful.
