Kilimanjaro kit list

Lessen your risk of succumbing to altitude sickness by following the kit list you should pack for your safe climb.

                  Keep warm! The correct kit is a mast.

  • Good sleeping bag rated for at least -10 degrees centigrade four-season, Down sleeping bags is great.
  • Sleeping bag liner/thermal fleece liner (can help with temperatures)
  • Footwear-Boots(Goretex trekking boots) recommended or similar
  • Take thick, thermal socks(two pairs)and thinner normal socks
    • Good rain protection-A waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers or rain poncho cape
    • A down Jacket/flees
    • Fleeces (are light, pack down small, dry quickly, and can be very warm
    • Trekking pants/Trekking trousers
    • Thermal layers (Thermal under layers have two functions) They insulate against cold and they draw moisture away from the body/Thermal long –Johns or compression tights for summit night
    • Woolly /fleecy hat
    • Balaclava
    • Good gloves/down mittens or similar
    • Hand warmers
    • Trainer or similar
    • Summer clothes, Light T-shirts and shorts
    • Sunscreen-high factor(35-40)essentials
    • Lip bam/chapstick/lip salve or vaseline
    • Very good sunglasses/contact lenses
    • Sun hut or cap
    • Tower mini
    • Toothbrush ,toothpaste ,a little soap ,deodorant ,toilet paper
    • And girls, the altitude can play havoc with your monthly cycle, so bring whatever you need, just in case
    • Walking poles
    • Calf Gaiters
    • A head torch
    • Water bottles(camelback system)/platypus Hoser
    • Water purifiers/filter/purifying tablets
    • Camera and equipment ,memory cards ,spare battery ,charge ,lense

      • Larger rucksack or holdall,70-90 liters capacity for kit carried by a porter, we expect that you will not put necessary things that you need at day hike as your larger rucksack will be back to you again once you arrive at the camp.
      • Daysuck,25-35 liters (for personal use on the mountain): Keep your day pack light and know that every extra kilo needs extra oxygen to carry so the guide should advise which necessary you must put in your daypack.
      • Articulated 12/14 point Crampons – it’s depending on seasonal
      • Ice-Axe – If you choose to climb via western breach
      • Helmet – If you choose to climb via western breach
